広瀬川（Hirosegawa River）

Hirosegawa River is a calm and beautiful river, one of the symbols of Sendai City. Grown up as a child in Sendai, the river is a nostalgic memory.

八王子オクトーレ（Hachioji Octore）

A popular shopping and office center at the north gate of Hachioji Station. Covid-19 vaccination was conducted on the several floors of the building.

Old Tokaido Road（旧東海道）

Walked just a little part of the Old Tokaido Road on the weekend. It was 8.4 km long from Keikyu Kamata Station to Shinagawa Station in Tokyo. The Old Tokaido Road was the main walking road between Edo (Tokyo) and Kyoto during the Edo era (1603-1868), and the whole trail was around 500 km, taking about three weeks to complete on foot. The weekend walk was only a two-hour mini-tour, but I enjoyed this historical walk and also a small public bath along the road. At Shinagawa Station, I tasted a good American craft beer. It was refreshing.

Shima Onsen（四万温泉）

Stayed at Shima Onsen (Hot Springs) in Gunma Prefecture for 2 nights. Shima Onsen is one of the three historic hot springs in Gunma, along with Kusatsu and Ikaho Onsen. The name of Shima（四万）is said to derive from the belief that the hot spring is effective for “Shima” (forty thousand in Japanese) types of illnesses. Enjoyed open-air and cypress baths. Breathe easier, live easier, and do not be weighed down by unnecessary burdens!
